The Department has the following nine (9) research laboratories for research/scientific purposes and to support courses in the study programs (undergraduate, postgraduate), as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research:

The objects of the Laboratory include: wood as a raw material in the wood – furniture – construction industry, identification of forestry species in constructions and products, quality control of wood products, chemical composition and structure of wood, wood production – its variability, structural errors, physical-mechanical -chemical properties of wood and its products, natural strength and durability, improvement-modification-protection-preservation of wood, wood densification, chemical modification, quality classification into mechanical strength classes, recycling of wood and its products, new composite products, as well as wood as a source of energy (firewood, pellets, etc.).

3. The supply of students with the necessary cognitive and technological “tools”, so that they are able to pursue a career in the full range of work items in the wood and furniture sector.

The strengthening of the employment and the professional rehabilitation of the graduates of the Department of Forestry, Wood Science & Design, in the fields of primary production, tourism, consulting of environmental companies, program management, preparation and submission of research proposals for financing, education and training with environmental content, but also in the wider and narrower public sector.
7. The elaboration of research and training programs related to the interests of the Laboratory.

Any form of cooperation with the academic staff of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design or other Departments of the University of Thessaly as well as with other laboratories, institutes, research centers, environmental centers, museums, cultural centers, academic institutions, business institutions, and associations, private sector companies, etc. of the country and abroad, provided that the scientific objectives of the respective cooperation will be harmonized with those of the Laboratory.
10. The organization of scientific lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events at the invitation of Greeks and scientists of recognized prestige at home and abroad and the realization of publications and publications in Greece and abroad.
11. The training of public and private sector executives and the information of the general public on issues related to the research activities and objectives of the Laboratory.
12. The development of online and physical communities and fora with the participation of students / three, teachers, but also any interested party who embrace the goals of the Laboratory.

3. The design, development and evaluation of intelligent management and operation systems of road and forestry infrastructure, which fall into the research interests of the members of the Laboratory.
